A Commission is drafting the first major revision to our City Charter in a quarter century, with possible changes to the way we vote, the size of our City Council, the appeals process and authority in Land Use decisions, the power of the City Controller, and more. The GWNC Charter Reform Ad Hoc Committee met on 10-23-2025 and will meet virtually over Zoom every other Thursday at 4 p.m. (subject to change, excluding holidays), except for on November 6th, when it will meet at 2 p.m.

Our GWNC committee is expected to remain active through March 2026, when the City Charter Reform Commission is scheduled to submit its final recommendations to City Council, who will approve any ballot initiative to be placed before voters in November 2026.
