LA Sanitation is hosting its first annual citywide Earth Day LA event to be held this Saturday, April 23rd from 9am to 2pm, at Hansen Dam Park, just outside Discovery Cube Los Angeles. The theme is Zero Waste – One Water.
We hope that you, your family, friends, and neighbors will please join us for this FREE celebration!
We’ll have a DJ and local performers on stage as well as a community bike ride/walk and a local neighborhood clean-up.
We’ll bring our collection trucks for the kids, and our city partners are bringing other vehicles, including a police cruiser and fire truck!
We’ll also have a variety of booths, games, mascots, educational materials, and free mulch and plants as well as other giveaways.
At our Scavenger Hunt, kids will be encouraged to “Take the Eco Challenge” and leave with at least 3 Earth-friendly tips that they can implement immediately at home. Those who complete the hunt will make an environmental pledge, have a quick photo session, get a free smoothie coupon, and be entered to win a family 4-pack of tickets to the Discovery Cube.
The first 1000 attendees to check in at our Information Booth will receive a free pass to Discovery Cube Los Angeles!
Our staff will be grilling from 10:30am to 1pm, and serving ice cream & popsicles. We also have a Kids Corner by the library with activities and pony rides.
This event couldn’t happen without our key partners – Council District 7, Discovery Cube Los Angeles, Recreation & Parks, Los Angeles Public Library, LAPD, LAPD Cadets, Park Rangers, CicLAvia, and City Plants.
We look forward to an educational day of Earth-friendly fun on April 23 and hope to see you all there!
