LAPD Wilshire Open House – Sunday October 16th

On Sunday October 16, 2016 from 12pm till 4pm Wilshire station, along with West Traffic Division, will open its doors to the community with activities for the kids as well as for the adults.
Date change for the Saturday, September 24th, GWNC Outreach Committee meeting
The date for this month’s GWNC Outreach Committee meeting has been moved to Saturday, October 1st, so as not to conflict with the 2016 Congress of Neighborhoods this Saturday.
Our next meeting will be held as usual at 9:00 a.m. at the Bricks and Scones Cafe, 403 N. Larchmont Blvd. Metered parking is available on Larchmont.
2017 Theodore Payne Native Plant Garden Tour seeks native gardens
The Theodore Payne Foundation for Wildflowers and Native Plants is looking for those with outstanding native landscapes to participate in their 2017 Native Plant Garden Tour, held on April 1 & 2, 2017. This Garden Tour is Theodore Payne’s largest annual outreach event, and has been helping Angeleno’s experience the authentic and sustainable beauty of California native gardens first-hand for nearly fifteen years!
Garden owners or designers interested in participating must complete an online application located here: nativeplantgardentour.org/apply The application period ends October 1, 2016.
Gardens must be planted with at least 50% California native plants, and ideally be at least three years old as of 2017. More detailed information is found in the online application.
Greater Wilshire NC – Traffic Town Hall
Please join the GWNC for a Town Hall meeting to discuss traffic issues on Highland Ave. and possible mitigation measures. The Town Hall will feature a panel with John Darnell (Council District 5), Nikki Ezhari (Council District 4), and Jeannie Shen (Los Angeles Department of Transportation).
Councilman David Ryu will join us from 6:45 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.
