GWNC-LASAN Biodiversity Project

Calling all Citizen Scientists!  Please join the GWNC for the launch of its joint biodiversity program with LA Sanitation (LASAN) with a presentation by LASAN’s Dr. Mas Dojiri and Isaac Brown on LA’s Biodiversity Project on September 11, 6:30 p.m – 7:30 p.m., at the Ebell of Los Angeles. The Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council (GWNC) is excited to partner with LA Sanitation & Environment (LASAN) and outreach partner the Hancock Park Garden Club for a biodiversity project.

Community Forum on Crenshaw Northern Extension

Metro is gathering input from our community on a proposed plan to expedite the Crenshaw Rail Northern Extension Project in time for the Olympics.

Attend this community forum to get informed on the alternative routes, station locations, and likely track configurations (underground, at-grade, or aerial).

GWNC will co-sponsor this free event, hosted by the Mid City West Community Council, with presenters from Metro and the City of West Hollywood.

Come to the January 28th GWNC Transportation Committee for a special panel discussion entitled “Working with LADOT and the City Council Office for Traffic Solutions”

Topics include traffic mitigations—from road narrowing to “bump-outs,” stop signs, center striping, and speed humps—as well as the review process and justification requirements, timelines, and funding.  We’ll also hear about recent successes with community-driven speed awareness campaigns

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD: Run for the GWNC!

Candidate registration for the March 31, 2019 GWNC Elections opened on December 16, 2018 and will remain open until January 15, 2019.

Registration is open for all 21 board seats: 15 by geographic region and 6 by special interest category (representing Renters, Business, Education, Religion, Other Non-Profit groups, and At-Large). Those elected would serve a two-year term beginning in April 2019.
